The Red Fort was the palace for Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s new capital, Shahjahanabad, when he moved his capital from Agra to bring prestige to his reign. It’s wall is 1.5 miles long, and varies in height from 60-110 ft. At 72.5 meters, the Qutab Minar is the tallest brick minaret in the world. Surrounding the building are many fine examples of Indian artwork dating back to 1193. Humayun’s tomb is a complex of buildings of Mughal architecture dating to the Slave Dynasty (1268-1287 AD). The complex is a World Heritage Site and the first example of this type of Mughal architecture in India. This style of mausoleum is similar to the Taj Mahal in Agra. Delhi is a city of dramatic contrasts, and is the most popular starting point for any tour of India. A tour to Old Delhi includes the Red Fort and the mosque of Jama Masjid with a stroll through the bazaars of Chandni Chowk (“Moonlit Square”). Mandawa is situated 190 km off Jaipur in the north. Mandawa is known for its fort and havelis. The fort town of Mandawa is well connected with the other places in region through a good network of roads. The City of Mandawa was made a thikana in the mid of 18th century by the Bhojraj Ji Kasubsub clan of Shekhawat Rajputs. About the origin of this town there have been earlier references to Mandu Jat as founder of the Mandawa village. He first established a dhani (hamlet) and dug a well here, which was completed on savan badi 5 samvat 1797 (1740 AD) (source – Shekhawati Bodh, Mandawa special issue, July 2005). Initially this place was known as ‘Mandu ki dhani’, ‘Mandu ka bas’ or ‘Manduwas’ which changed to ‘Manduwa’, ‘Mandwa’ and finally ‘Mandawa’ Hotel Castle Mandawa is a perfect blend of old, royal and modern architecture. Thakur Nawal Singh, the Rajput ruler of Mandawa, built the Castle Mandawa in 1755. It has been now converted into the heritage hotel. Founded in the 18th century, the medieval fort of Mandawa dominates the town with a painted arched gateway adorned with Lord Krishna and his cows. The Chokhani and Ladia havelis and the street with Saraf havelis are some of the splendid examples of this region’s havelis.

Transfer to Bikaner by “air-conditioned” Toyota Innova with a private driver. The village of Deshnok lying 33 km south of Bikaner is known mainly for the 17th century Karni Mata temple. The temple was dedicated by Maharaj Ganga Singh to the 15th century female mystic Karniji, worshipped as an incarnation of Durga. He also added massive silver gates and beautiful white marble carvings on the façade. Thousands of rats and mice inhabit this temple and are revered as incarnations of mystics, and offered sweets and milk by worshippers.

Bikaner is a city in the northwest of the state of Rajasthan in western India. It has a few intriguing sights. Junagarh Fort is an impressive fort in the city, originally called Chintamani and was renamed Junagarh or “Old Fort” in the early 20th century when the ruling family moved to Lalgarh Palace. It is one of the few major forts in Rajasthan not built on a hilltop. Lalgarh Palace was built between 1902 and 1926 in a combination of Rajput, Mughal and European architectural styles. The complex contains the features considered essental for a late 19th century palace; drawing rooms, smoking rooms, guest suites, several grand halls, lounges, cupolas, pavilions, including a dining room which could seat 400 diners. Located near the 6000 acre Gajner wildlife sanctuary, the Gajner Palace is located in Gajner,a 30-minute drive from Bakaner. Jaisalmer Fort: Built in 12th century, the grand Jaisalmer Fort (also known as the Golden Fort or Sonar Kila) is one of the mostformidable forts in the desert state of Rajasthan, India. The fort is located atop the Trikuta Hill and surrounded by a 30 feet high wall with 99 fortresses. This 250 tall imposing fort offers an amazing vista for its visitors. Jaisalmer Havelis: Jaisalmer Havelis were once the home of wealthy merchants. These havelis of Jaisalmer are well-known for their creative designs and adornments. It is a royal cenotaph made up of white marble. It was built to commemorate Maharaja Jaswant Singh. Umaid Bhawan Palace is built of marble and pink sandstone. An excursion to Bishnoi Village, gives you a glimpse of village life in Rajasthan. Jodhpur is a vibrant city of Palaces, Forts, temples and havelis. The temple of Adinath is an ancient one. The outer ‘Mandap’ of the temple has beautiful mural paintings on its ceiling which still retain their original splendor. Opposite Rawla Narai hotel is a mammoth granite rock with a small temple on top. There is also a good baori (step-well) in Narlai, several old temples and lots of quite walks. This 17th century fortress which became an enchanting hunting lodge was gifted by Maharaja Umaid Singhji of Jodhpur to his younger brother Maharaj Ajit Singhji. Two decades later, Maharaj Swaroop Singh, his son, together with his wife Rani Ushadevi under took the project to restore this exotic villa to its true origins. Private guided tour of Amber Fort, located in Amber 11 km from Jaipur. The structure which is today known as Amber fort was initially a palace complex within the much larger Jaigarh Fort. The fort is constructed of red sandstone and white marble overlooking Maotha lake, and was reputed to be the treasure vault of the Kacchwaha rulers. The most magnificent sight inside is the hall of mirrors. When royalty lived there, at night they needed only a single candle, because the thousands of tiny intricate mirrors would light the entire room. The elephant safaris followed with Dinner are conducted in the original Aravali forests surrounding the camp and follow a route through villages, agricultural fields, hills and ancient monuments, the birdlife in the thick forests is thriving and though panthers do inhabit the jungles it is very rare to see them however occasionally the hyena and the wolf has been sighted by guest, antelopes, jackals are in abundance.
