Mahendranagar-New Delhi bus services launched

Buses operated under Nepal’s Mahakali Transport Committee and India’s Uttar Pradesh Pariwahan Nigam are parked at Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, on Wednesday.
Jan 29, 2016- In a major boost to connectivity between Nepal and India, two bus services from Mahendranagar to New Delhi were flagged off on Wednesday

Dinesh Bhandari, president of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Federation, flagged off the buses. “Now, we are preparing to operate bus service to Dehradun,” said Bhandari, adding all frontier formalities for the service have been completed.
Mahakali Transport Entrepreneurs Committee has joined hands with Uttarkhand Transport Corporation and Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation to operate the Mahendranagar-Delhi bus service. “For now, there will be a night service, while day services will be operated gradually,” he said.
The journey starts from Mahendranagar at 6:00 pm, while the bus will return at 8:00 pm from Delhi.
The buses have to cross a bridge on the Sharda River which is open for heavy vehicles only from 6:00am to 8:00am and 6:00pm to 8:00pm daily. The distance from Mahendranagar to Delhi is 375km. The one-way fare has been set at IRs570.
“While Indians go to Nepal as tourists, many from Nepal come to India in search of work. We had started with one bus to and from Nepal last month, but with the increase in demand, we added
one more bus earlier
this month,” Indian media quoted PK Bose, regional manager of Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Transport Corporation, as saying.
Lately, there has been an increase in the number of passengers travelling between Nepal and India. As the two countries have proposed constructing a four-lane bridge on the Mahakali river, locals said once the bridge is constructed, it would increase the flow of Indian visitors to Nepal significantly and Mahendranagar could be a transit hub in the Far-west Region.

BHIMDUTTANAGAR: The Mahakali Seti Transportation Committee, Kanchanpur has started direct bus service from Mahendranagar to New Delhi in India from Thursday.

The direct bus service was, however, inaugurated by Nepal Transportation National Federation Chairperson Dinesh Bhandari on Wednesday.
The buses plying from Nepal to India belong to the Department of Transport Management under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Nepal.

India and Nepal would operate their buses on alternate days. The fare for this route has been fixed Rs 912, according to the Committee.

The Committee has been making preparations to operate bus service from Mahendranagar to Dehradun, India also.
The buses plying from Nepal to India belong to the Department of Transport Management under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Nepal.

News from India about Mahendra Nagar Bus

NEW DELHI: A new bus service has been started between India and Nepal has been started.

The bus service– ‘Janrath’– started on Sunday. It will operate from New Delhi via Banbasa in Champawat district of Uttarakhand to Mahendra Nagar bordering town of Kanchanpur district of Nepal.

“The bus service started from December 26 from New Delhi. It has been named ‘Janrath’ and the number of buses will be increased if the passengers from both side gets increased,” said an Uttar Pradesh roadway officer.

According to sources at Indian border post at Banbasa, the Uttar Pradesh roadways bus from Sahibabad bus stand near Delhi, with 19 Nepalese passengers on board, reached at border bridge at Banbasa on Monday morning.

“It returned with 44 Nepalese passengers for Delhi in the evening,” said BM Upreti, in-charge of Indian police post at the barrage.

 

Mahendranagar-Delhi direct bus service begins

The operation of the bus service in this 350 kilometres of journey is believed to lessen down the incidents of loot of Nepali passengers in places bordering Nepal as Gaddachauki and Banbasa.

The buses plying from Nepal to India belongs to the Department of Transport Management under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Nepal.

India and Nepal will operate its each one bus every day. The fare for this route has been fixed Rs 912, according to the Committee.
